The Revised Certificate Renewal Plan from the South Carolina Department of Education-Office of Teacher Certification-Division of Teacher Quality offers School Counselors new professional growth and development opportunities. Options # 6 & # 10 in the Professional Development Renewal Credit Matrix give school counselors another avenue for training at professional conferences and conventions that counts toward teacher renewal.

As you write your Professional Development Plan for the 2009-2010 school year consider including the SCSCA 26th Annual Fall Conference November 1-3, 2009, in Columbia, SC for contact hours!! These contact hours can be used to complete your 120 credit hours needed for your SDE certificate renewal during your five year certification cycle.
